Professional Development Internship

Provide ongoing learning for LBSA’s high-quality staff! Interns in this position will be intimately involved in the planning and implementation of Laura Baker Services’ Learning Fair (a two-day conference of classes for staff). This unpaid internship requires a 4–8 hour commitment each week.

Housing Forum Internship

Interested in housing? A call to action! We have an outstanding internship opportunity to organize and plan a housing forum in Northfield. This skill-building internship will address the preservation and establishment of affordable and accessible local housing. Duties include contacting and listening to constituents and contacting local housing partners. Must be able to manage multiple priorities successfully, have excellent time management skills, and be highly organized. This is an unpaid intern position.

“Reverse” Job Fair Internship

Plan a “Reverse” Job Fair in which employers are invited to come interview some of our clients with developmental disabilities. The purpose of the fair is to give clients interview experience and highlight for employers some of the skills that could be of benefit to them. Duties include contacting business partners, finding a location and setting up the fair. Additional duties include contacting interviewees and their guardians. Fairs are currently held quarterly and the majority of these duties could be performed outside of our offices. Approximately 10 hours per week(flexible). This is an unpaid intern position.

Advocacy, Engagement and Research Internship

LBSA has a goal of developing 1,000 engaged advocates on behalf of the organization and our mission to help individuals with disabilities achieve their dreams. This intern will be responsible for researching specific federal and state disability policies (particularly in light of new government administrations) and helping to craft strategies that will engage additional community members in support of our mission.  Approximately 8 hours per week(flexible). This is an unpaid intern position.

Family Support Services Internship

Seeking experience working one-to-one with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities? Through this internship opportunity you’ll organize and attend monthly respite care events for clients and their families, help develop a volunteer base to expand the bandwidth of LBSA’s family support programs, and assist with clerical duties as needed. Successful interns will be able to manage multiple priorities successfully, have excellent time management skills, and be highly organized. This unpaid internship is approximately 8 hours per month.
