Meet Mini-Conference Speaker Connor Larson, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

We are pleased to welcome Connor Larson, DNP, RN, PHN, as a featured speaker at LBSA’s Behavioral Support Mini-Conference.

Connor has worked alongside people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) since he was 16 years old. This long-standing commitment gives him a depth of understanding that extends beyond clinical knowledge. He understands how the whole person can be impacted by mental health, communication, behavior, physical health, medication, environment and caregiver capacity challenges.

Connor currently serves as a registered nurse at Mount Olivet Rolling Acres, where he supports individuals with complex physical, behavioral and mental health needs. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winona State University and is pursuing his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing at the University of Minnesota.

His clinical training, combined with years of direct experience with the IDD population, allows him to translate complex mental health information into practical guidance for families, direct support professionals, caregivers and clinical teams.

During this session, Connor will explore how mental health can present in people with IDD. Connor will also discuss common barriers to effective behavioral support. Through specific examples and case studies, Connor will show how these challenges play out in real life. Cases will explore complex combinations such as dementia and trauma, autism and mental health concerns and substance use disorders.

For the individuals and families LBSA serves, meaningful support often begins with careful observation and stronger communication. This session will help attendees see the whole person, not only a diagnosis, behavior, medication, appointment or service category. Space is limited. Reserve your spot today!
