We are pleased to announce that JR Larson has joined the LBSA leadership team as its first Director of Business Development!

This announcement comes at a time when LBSA is celebrating its 125th anniversary. This milestone stirs memories of the organization’s original founder, Laura Baker, and the hundreds and hundreds of individuals with developmental disabilities who have found opportunity and community here in Northfield. Ms. Baker’s vision and desire to create a culture of dignity and respect continues today in the daily lives of LBSA residents.

And so, the next 125 years begins. JR, in the newly created role of Director of Business Development, will be spearheading efforts to market LBSA’s new programs and develop a new customer base. This program expansion initiative has three main components: Family Navigation Services, Housing Stabilization Services and Behavioral Support Services.

Family Navigation Services launched in September 2021 and assists families and people with disabilities to access services and supports to make their lives more manageable and continues to improve quality of life for clients and their loved ones. Family Navigation Services offers customized care and support subscription packages that can be specifically tailored to the needs of participants.

Housing Stabilization Services launched in January 2022. This service will support people with disabilities to remain in their community housing. The service will assist people to work with landlords and get along with their neighbors. The program is designed to increase long-term stability in housing and avoid future periods of homelessness or institutionalization.

Behavioral Support Services is a forthcoming venture that will work to assist people and families to change and manage behaviors that may create barriers to successful community living. This program is currently in development, and we hope to launch by 4th quarter of 2022.

We are excited to have JR join the LBSA leadership team in this new role. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. Prior to LBSA JR held a variety of positions in sales, marketing and business development primarily in the medical device and medical services industries. The move to LBSA is an opportunity for JR to utilize his experience, knowledge and communication skills he developed over the last 20+ years for an organization that he is truly passionate about.

JR moved to Northfield in 2006. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons, including one on the autism spectrum. LBSA was one of the organizations that supported their move to the community and so JR is thrilled to join the LBSA leadership team. Welcome JR!
